About Jen Laskey

Jen Laskey is the author of Jen’s Candy Jar: Artisanal Candy Recipes for Holidays and Special Occasions, silver medal winner in the “Cookbooks” category of the 2015 eLit Book Awards. She is a New York City-based writer, but her work and wanderlust often lead her away to other cities, villages, and vineyards around the world, and sometimes, even to remote caves and reefs deep under the sea. Jen has written hundreds of articles on many different subjects, but it was while she was living in Italy from 2005-2007 that she discovered her passion for writing about food, wine, and travel.

Jen covered the dining and lodging scene in Rome for Fodor’s Travel Publications. She was also granted a research fellowship with the Ancient Traditions Group at Gabriele d’Annunzio University in Chieti to study the cultural and culinary traditions of Abruzzo. Her research evolved into a manuscript that focuses on the region’s food, wine, and festivals.

Jen’s writing has appeared in a variety of print and online publications, including SAVEUR, Fodor’s Travel guidebooks (Rome, Berlin, New York, New England, Cape Cod and the Islands), AOL’s Digital City/City’s Best guides, Food Republic, Everyday Health, My Well-Being, Reader’s Digest, Joy Bauer’s Food Cures, South Beach Diet, Daily Glow, Oxygen, Women’s Entertainment Television, and Playboy. Jen is a wine and spirits columnist for SNOW magazine. She has been a food and wine/spirits writer for The Inquirer and Mirror newspaper. She is a regular contributor to In Search of Taste, Nantucket and Nantucket Today magazines. She has also been a ghostwriter to a number of best-selling authors. And in addition to writing, she has more than a decade of experience working as an editor, producer, and content strategist for print and digital media in New York City and San Francisco.

Jen holds an MFA in Fiction Writing from Columbia University, a BA in Literature, Creative Writing, Visual Arts, and Carnival from Bennington College, and an advanced certification, with distinction, from the London-based Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET). She is currently pursuing her WSET Diploma.
